Keep your Hair Healthy this Summer!!

Many of us don't keep up with our hair during the summer and that's pretty much the main reason why your hair may become dry and brittle.

Here are some ways to help you prevent that dry and brittle look this summer:

Say goodbye to split ends and hello to shiny and luscious hair!

  • Come into dsparada for a Haircut! - Sun can do more damage to hair that already is; So it is best to get a haircut before the summer heat is in full effect. Once you get that haircut it will probably be best to go back and see your stylist every 6 to 8 weeks for regular trims.

  • Washing your Hair! - Try and look for a hydrating shampoo and conditioner if your not using anything to protect your hair in from the the sun. Make sure the product does not have any sulfates or sodium chloride; those ingredients weigh down your hair making it have less volume. For example here at dsparada we carry a line called Color Proof which is a Vegan line that uses no sulfates or sodium chloride. Also contains an anti-aging ingredient and certified organic botanicals. *Tip*- Do not wash as often for that can strip your scalp of the natural oils you need. Try only rinsing your hair after the pool or beach that day and shampoo the next.

  • Keratin Treatments! - They can be expensive but totally worth it! Here at dsparada we offer these treatments starting at *$150. If you don't want to or can't spend the money on a keratin treatment there are great oils you can buy that will help keep your hair healthy.

  1. Argan Oil
  2. Coconut Oil
  3. Grape Seed Oil
  4. Avocado Oil
  5. Almond Oil
  6. Rosemary Oil
  7. Extra-virgin Olive Oil
  8. Jojoba Oil
There are literally tons of natural at home remedies for your hair that you can research. One method is to rub the oil you pick in your hair let it sit for about an hour then wash out using an all natural shampoo. Argan, coconut,and/or Extra-virgin olive oil works very well for those with  thick unruly hair. For those with thin hair Pomegranate Seed and/or  Rosemary Oil can do the trick by adding more life to the hair. Jojoba Oil is great for all hair types. After your appointment here at dsparada you can choose a styling aid that can also help maintain the health of your hair. (We carry Goldwell,Color Proof, and Kevin Murphy products.)

  • Cover Up!- Sometimes the best thing you can do is just throw a hat or scarf on to protect you hair from the UV rays. Pulling you hair back will also work. Just make sure you spray a leave in conditioner to your ends, comb through and pull hair  into ponytail. Also make sure to apply sunblock along the hairline once it is pulled back. *Tip* -  Investing in good hair bands will help!! Don't forget if you have a straw hat UV rays can shine through so you may need an extra layer underneath the hat.

  1. If you’ve got a round face, you probably also have fuller cheeks and an overall youthful look. Whilst we think all face shapes are beautiful, we understand it’s also fun to play around with your features, so we’ve asked our Colour Maestro and face makeup for her top tips on how to sculpt and define your features using makeup for a chiseled look that still complements your natural beauty.
